I'm glad that charges have been filed. The next more difficult step is proving their guilt in court and then carrying out the sentence should they be found guilty. I fear there might be some lenience given if it goes that far.

Out of 203 arrested rioters.
103 was release from jail the next day or less because they couldn't charge them with anything as they arrested alot of peaceful protesters by accident.

My Dear Melancholy,

Huge HUGE HUGE UPDATE! Will love to hear opinions!
Posted Image

Last week or week before on Friday. The arrest was determined illegal and wrong. And unrightful police brutality. Turns out Freddie that Friday was doing absolutely nothing but minding his business. Just chillin. Nothing important. Living life. We don't know why the police arrested him as....even they said he did nothing. The 6 cops are charged with murder and manslaughter as they purposely didn't put him in a seatbelt (it was a police truck not a car) and did a rough ride which broke Freddie's spinal cord. They also off video roughed him up before arresting him. Freddie did NOT resist arrest either.

Pretty heart breaking :T_T: . Most of his arrest is on YouTube showing him screaming.

This week has new updates that is shocking.

http://www.theroot.com/articles/news/2015/05/officer_charged_in_freddie_gray_s_death_had_guns_taken_twice_and_allegedly.html

Let's start from bottom:
Quote:

Baltimore Police Lt. Brian Rice, one of the officers charged with manslaughter in Freddie Gray’s death, was disciplined after first threatening to kill himself and then his ex-girlfriend’s husband, and had his guns confiscated twice, according to court documents.

I picture all of the negative attention is killing him under stress. Feel bad for him. It's depressing for everyone involved.

The knife:
Quote:

Gray was charged with carrying an illegal knife, but authorities have come to differing conclusions about it. Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said in announcing charges against six officers that the knife was not an illegal switchblade under Maryland law. Baltimore police have said the knife violates city code.

A defense attorney for one of the officers has challenged the claim by prosecutors that Gray was falsely arrested and filed a motion demanding to inspect the knife.

I'm confused. Freddie never wield the knife or attack someone with it. No one knew he had a knife until he was at hospital. How can this even factor in the case? Anyone knows? It's like this is being dragged out for attention.

Prince:
The legend Prince has made a song for Baltimore. Thought I'll tell you guys :) .

Bias:
Baltimore police want prosecutor Marilyn Mosby off Freddie Gray case!
Quote:

Marilyn Mosby, a young African-American lawyer who’s been on the job only a few months: That her own personal relationships, the speed at which she brought charges, and questions around allegations of false arrest, might fuel debate over weaknesses in the prosecution’s case.

Motions to dismiss are standard in legal proceedings. Nevertheless, there is at least a hairline crack in the prosecution’s case.

In fact, the most immediate concern for the government, says David Gray, a professor at the University of Maryland Law School, is whether Ms. Mosby’s contention that Freddie Gray’s arrest itself was illegal will hold up, given recent Supreme Court rulings allowing officers to make “reasonable mistakes of the law” when stopping someone.

To be sure, the false arrest allegations pale against the central murder and manslaughter charges. But the illegal imprisonment notion cuts to a key protester complaint: That Gray was targeted, arrested and ended up dead not for anything he had done wrong, but for who he was – a young black man from a rough part of town.

Gray sustained mortal neck injuries after being left unbuckled in the back of a police wagon. Arrested and injured on April 12, Gray died on April 19. Peaceful protests as well as riots ensued, tapping into simmering distrust between the police department and swaths of Baltimore’s black community, all while touching on disgruntlement in some parts of America around how police treat young black men walking the street.

The six officers in Baltimore (three of them white, three black) were arrested nearly two weeks after Gray’s death, and following protests and looting in parts of Baltimore that ended with injuries to nearly 100 officers, and dozens of cars and businesses set ablaze.

In their motion, the officers point to the tense security situation as the impetus for Mosby’s swift allegations. Her marriage to an outspoken city councilman, Nick Mosby, also undermines her case, the officers allege in their court motion. At the very least, the officers want the court to appoint a more independent prosecutor.

This seems similar to an ongoing investigation here where the problem is that anyone they pick to be lead prosecutor or investigator turns out to have some connection with either the accused or the victims. Everyone involved is so connected in one way or another that it's difficult to find even one person who does not share some sort of connection.

Well, at least the claims of this being race based can disappear

Other than that though, this seems like a rather clear-cut case for guilt on the part of the cops.

This is going off topic.

Couple weeks ago, we saw Carmello Anthany joining the protest. http://nypost.com/2015/04/30/carmelo-anthony-joins-protesters-in-hometown-of-baltimore/

What is your view on black athletics that don't participate in this?

Nothing is off topic? Why you say that? Not to be rude. Just curious.

Black Athletes...umm..I don't see what race or how famous someone is have any..meaning. It's not a race issue. It's a right vs wrong issue.

What does it matter if someone famous protest or not? Why it matters if protesters are black? 3 officers that killed him was black. The reason why it's mostly a black protest is because Maryland especially Baltimore is mostly black.

They're acting like apes. Freddie Gray was a scumbag look at his f***ing record. These people are just looking for a reason break stuff

The guys family asked for peace. Then these f***tards go and destroy the city risking injuring and killing people
Are you f*cking serious bro? Are you dumb? He charges were not violent but drug related. Everyone who knew him said he was a nice funny guy. Hell he bought ice cream for the entire neighborhood. Don't ever post some dumb s*** like this again.

Like are you serious? You didn't even know the guy. Please sit down son. Making yourself to be a real jackass honestly.

Some of these post...are..bad. Like Steve never talk about Baltimore again. You clearly don't know anything about Baltimore. So don't speak what you don't know about.

Onto the case. Just arrest the police. Freddie did nothing yet was killed. But you gotta drag this on because it brings media to Baltimore. The image of rioting is disturbing. If the 6 police gets off. Expect the worse.

My Dear Melancholy,

Update time:
Baltimore officers charged with homicide by omission in Gray case

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/baltimore-officers-charged-with-homicide-by-omission-in-gray-case/2015/06/27/32424d3c-1b6e-11e5-93b7-5eddc056ad8a_story.html

Quote:

Unlike most criminal cases involving homicides — where someone is charged with shooting, hitting, stabbing or choking a victim — the one headed for trial in Baltimore in October involves an unusual and complicated concept: homicide “through acts of omission,” to quote the medical examiner in Maryland who performed Gray’s autopsy, according to a report obtained by the Baltimore Sun last week before it became public.

The medical examiner concluded that Gray, without a seat belt and handcuffed in the back of a police van, lurched when the van sped up or turned, striking his head and suffering a fatal neck injury. When Gray, 25, repeatedly asked for help, authorities said, he was ignored.

Quote:

Shackled at his feet, handcuffed behind his back and slid belly down into the van after his arrest, Gray may have been able to stand but unable to brace himself, the medical examiner concluded. He was thrown into a wall when the van suddenly sped up, slowed down or abruptly changed direction, according to the report. The medical examiner said that could have caused him to suffer a “high energy injury” — similar to an injury from a shallow water dive — that severely damaged his spinal cord.

Quote:

Gray was arrested after he spotted officers and ran from a corner in West Baltimore. Prosecutors and officers disagree on the legality of the chase and over the legality of a spring-loaded knife found in Gray’s pocket after he was caught. Video shows officers dragging a seemingly limp Gray into a transport van.

Quote:

Goodson faces the most serious charges — second-degree depraved-heart murder, involuntary manslaughter and assault, among other counts. Porter, Rice and White each face involuntary manslaughter and other charges. Nero and Miller face charges that include assault. All six also are charged with misconduct in office.

But I thought police brutality was a myth!? I thought every murder a cop does is 100% justified and any chase they done had a reason.

The 6 police are getting what they deserved.

Isolated instances. It's a shame what happened but the entire police force shouldn't be judged based on the actions of six bad cops.

And when did my post say anything about the police force? I said the 6 police got what they deserved did I not?

Edit: Holy s*** that came off as rude. I'm sorry. I wasn't blaming the entire force. Only the 6 people.

My Dear Melancholy,

Update and this one is VERY bizarre. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/08/bombshell_dropped_in_freddie_gray_investigation.html

Defense attorneys for the six police officers accused of killing Freddie Gray in Baltimore earlier this summer have filed a motion claiming that prosecutors tried to steer the investigation away from Gray's history of faking injuries while in law enforcement settings in order to collect settlements.

Are they implying that he faked his injuries when it was already concluded he was arrested for no reason and that the police purposely rough rided him to kill him?
